    Posting pictures

How are you folks adding pictures in your posts since the upload pictures in the Gallery is still broken? I haven't found the solution but others apparently have.

    Thanks.

    Re: Posting pictures

I read a couple of posts that said the pictures had to be resized. Something around 800x480, maybe?
I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

    Re: Posting pictures

I've read that too, but it's not always true. The way I'm posting the picture below won't work for most people, but I'll describe how I did it.

    1. First, I have my own web site where I uploaded the image. The original image was 4912 x 3264 Pixels. Most, but not all users here won't have their own site.
    2. Next, I brought the image on my web site up in a separate browser tab in Firefox. Then I copied the image. Firefox actually reduced the image in the browser window down to 27% just so it would fit.
    3. Then I simply pasted the image here.

You can see that the image is smaller than I started out with due to Firefox reducing it when I first displayed it, but still bigger than 800 pixels in either axis. I'm sure there are strange interactions going on with all kinds of technical explanations, but probably not particularly relevent either.

Yes, it is a Sargent 708. I cleaned it up a little, but not much was really needed.

    Another thought:

There are photo sharing sites out there. If you can find a free site where you can browse your pictures (once you've put some there of course) then you might be able to use the same technique I described above to copy/paste your images between browser tabs to get them to show up on this site while it's in its current state of disrepair.

    Re: Posting pictures

    Following up:

I opened a free account at shutterfly.com. Took less than 5 minutes. They have free and unlimited photo storage.

I uploaded the picture below and placed it in an album. Very easy. I selected the pic from the album to get the full sized pic. Right click, copy the image, select the browser tab with this post being composed and pasted the image.

    And there you go.

    Re: Posting pictures

Jeff I have used 2 methods. I go to my albums in the Gallery and select them for the thread. With pictures already in the albums, I go to the camera feature above and choose from my albums.

This is from an album from back in 2014 when I needed a haircut and couldn't make a decision. Having photos in albums allows you to easily and quickly post a photo in a thread. The work comes when loading to the albums. Before the site had issues, one could select 20 photos(120-150k) from your computer and upload all with one input. For the last year or so you are limited to 5 photos and it takes time to load to the Gallery.

This is my new girlfriend. I go up to the legend bar and select the Insert picture button left of the camera. Go to my computer find a picture choose it and select upload.

I think most people are just grabbing photos from their computer and posting in the thread. I don't like this as much as method 1. You can not see the photo and you have to open the address.

Additionally, I lean towards the gallery method so I can use something again and again without searching. It also allows me to suggest to someone with a question to look in one of my 20 or so albums. With over 2000 photos in my albums in the Gallery, I guess its fair to say I use the Gallery.

    I think this might help?

You can not upload a photo to the Gallery at this time. Broken.

    Re: Posting pictures

    Thanks folks.

    1. Mike Davis posted these pics to his "Shadowbox" after the infamous crash but I don't know how he did it.

    https://www.ncwoodworker.net/forums/...ad.php?t=66033

My Mac software has a built-in photo handling application called "Photos" which is where I download photos from our camera and export them to the desktop. The next step used to be uploading them to the Gallery but that's not available now.

    2. Dan, I want to post new photos taken very recently. I can't even access my Gallery when I click on that tab...just a blank screen and I had lots of pictures in there in addition to albums.

    3. I tried this with another picture from my "Photos" and exported it as a .png and .pdf. We'll see how that works.

Thanks Mike. It appears to have worked so I'm good with it. The pic is 2288 x 1712 pixels as is.

    Re: Posting pictures

    Mike,

The pic was posted by me and Mike (patlaw) replied. I exported the picture from my Mac "Photos" application to the desk top and added it to my post in the "Manage Attachments" box.
