    Re: Certificate Errors

Its happening to me as well and I'm having trouble even accessing the site due to having to go through multiple warning pages. Probably everyone is having this problem. Until it is resolved I think I'll stay off the forum for now.

    Re: Certificate Errors

If you use Firefox, you can set an exception that will ignore the error. You're supposed to be able to do the same with Chrome, but I can't figure it out.

The Mozilla thing worked, thanks for that post. Still they'll have to resolve this eventually.

Yep, something is off, I'm getting that it can't verify the server.

    Re: Certificate Errors

The SSL certificate expired. It's a problem on the server.

    Re: Certificate Errors

Indeed the SSL certificate has expired, something that has gotten lost in the recent chaos. Hopefully we can buy a new certificate soon and see whether or not we can actually get it installed as the last few times we tried to install a new certificate through cPanel we were forced to resort to installing it via the command line or getting our host to install it because cPanel was not working properly — but at the moment cPanel is all we have (we have no command line access at this time) so fingers crossed that cPanel behaves this time.

Getting the new certificate will take a bit of time as it is something that Ron or another Board member will have to do as I can not really buy a certificate on NCWW’s behalf. We typically buy certificates with a 2-year duration (if a member of our Board should see this) to reduce the cPanel related headaches. Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike cPanel?! You know a “simplified” interface is poorly designed when it is far easier and faster to do everything from the command line than through the supposedly simplified interface.

In the meantime it is OK to click through the warnings as they are just complaining about an expired certificate, the encryption is still there. The warning comes about as the web browser does not differentiate between a simple old-age expiration versus canceling an otherwise active key due to compromise and treats both instances with the same severity of warning.

    Re: Certificate Errors

The big problem is you have to click through the warnings with each new page. Many people will not get through the warnings to see this thread. This is bad.

    Re: Certificate Errors

I agree with Mike about most folks not even making it to this thread. I didn’t click through the warnings until this morning because I planned to wait until the warning was resolved. From Ethan’s explanation, I’m glad I didn’t wait!

    Re: Certificate Errors

I also got the warning this morning on Safari. It sounds ominous but it's actually pretty harmless and there probably aren't any clandestine groups trying to steal your personal information.

I had an option to "click and bypass this warning message" that took me to the NCWW sign-in.

The big problem is you have to click through the warnings with each new page, at least with Chrome unless you set an exception. Many people will not get through the warnings to see this thread. This is bad.

I'm not getting the warning with each new page. I bypassed the warning once and logged in but after that I went to multiple other pages without getting the warning again and again.
