    Wood clamps

I have 4 of these clamps 12" clamps. How do you store them and keep them out of the way? I like them, probably shouldn't have bought the 12" ones, but they're a PITA to put away conveniently.

Most of my small clamps hang from my light fixtures. The hand screws are clamped to a board that hangs from the garage door rail.

My dad had a mechanics tool box on wheels and the bottom has a large cavity for me to put big stuff in including handclamps. My Gerstner sits on top of the roll around tool cabinet.

3/4 or 1" pipe flange screwed to the wall and then just screw in a short (12") length of pipe

    Re: Wood clamps

Jeff, I have quite a few of those Jorgensen style clamps. I have enough that I stack them like a tree around a post.

For just a couple, Iíve clamped them to wall studs and ceiling joists. At one time, I also had a freestanding (attached from floor to joist) post that I would clamp them to.

I'll gladly tell you how I do something. Just please don't confuse that with the right way to do it, and almost certainly not the only way.

Bill - your pic is adding credence to my recent thought to use something more substantial than drywall in my workshop (whenever I get around to it that is). As I slowly migrate my father's tools from his workshop in Sampson Cty to mine, clamp storage is one thing I am struggling with. Your method looks very similar to his (he used heavy dowels sunk into a board mounted to the wall) and should work well.

Jeff - I can recommend the method pictured and mentioned in previous posts as a good way to store the large wood clamps. It worked well for my dad and I over the years.
