Re: Festool TS 55 teardown
Mine has cut more 1 3/4 thick veneered particle board core doors than I care to think about. I bought it about 15 or so years ago to cut glass openings in commercial doors. We had 13 doors to cut open that day, instead of taking the doors outside to keep the dust out of the office (which would have required wrestling them into a too small elevator) we hooked up a vacuum and cut them right in the law firm's lobby - NO DUST. That saw paid for itself that first day and that process has been repeated over and over. If I lost it today I would buy a new one today

Re: Festool TS 55 teardown
BOLTR is always looking for value. He'll pan junk from the BORG but occasionally he comes across a cheap HF item that is surprisingly well made given its price point. Of those finds he is a big fan. Festool will have a hard time getting his approval since their profit margin is enormous. He's not claiming it's a bad tool - just that it's over-priced for what it is. (He tends to expect a $1000 tool to be around twice as good as a $500 tool with no corner cutting. As such, he is often disappointed.)
And he's pretty funny.

Re: Festool TS 55 teardown
I think Festool's prices are too high too but they make good tools. Boltr is entertaining and there is some useful information in his videos but they are mostly just entertainment.

Re: Festool TS 55 teardown
This would be true if they manufactured in a third world country. Instead they don't and pay their workers living wages, benefits and all the things that make doing business and living in a democracy expensive. In addition they innovate. When was the last time you saw a handheld power tool company with offshore manufacturing come out with a new idea?
