Steve Hall will be at my house measuring saws for his project this coming Tuesday afternoon. I'd say we'll be here starting around 4:00. PM me your contact info so I can text you Tuesday and let you know exactly what's going on and the address. I'd say it'll take you 45 minutes to get here from New Bern.

More shop pictures. I built the table a while back.
It is more of an assembly table than a woodworkers bench as it has no dog or wood vise. Bonus is my shop is heated, cooled, has bathroom, kitchenette, and gameroom off to the side for napping. 0708181158.jpg0708181158.jpg

    Re: Recommendation for first handplane

Sounds like we have a plan. No need to rush to get here... Steve and I will have plenty to do.

Bring your block plane and I'll check it out. If nothing else I'll use it to teach you to sharpen if you don't already know how.

Definitely take Chris up on his sharpening lesson! You must know how to do this and hands on is the best way to learn. It took me a while to figure it out on my own.

Big shoutout and thanks to Chris C for gifting a Stanley plane and showing me how to sharpen, tune and take care of a plane. I found the lesson inspiring and since Tuesday i have reduced my practice spruce 2x4 to shavings. I made a donation to the website on behalf of this donted plane.
