ECE or Ecemmerich Planes Tools and parts
This is a German company that makes wooden hand planes and other wood working tools.
The reason for this post is : I own a 703p Jack plane that needed a chip-breaker.
The original chip-breaker was adjusted by the prior owner and me
but would not sit flat on the blade .
Trying to find a replacement was difficult.
Looking at a 2014 May / June FW magazine , there was an ad
for ECE planes.
Lo and behold there is a US rep for ECE and he had the chip breaker I need.
He can be reached @
David Warren Direct
E. C. Emmerich, U.S. Factory Representative 1/800-724-7758
He is a woodworker and a factory rep.
https://ecemmerich.de/en/portfolio/planes/ is the URL for ECE tools in German and English.

Re: ECE or Ecemmerich Planes Tools and parts
Most certainly agree with that !!! However , that's one of the places I started my search at.
They did not have the chipbreaker in stock , but went overboard with customer service in trying
to find it. Quoted that they could order it from Germany but it would the several months.Buy your BEST tool First !

Re: ECE or Ecemmerich Planes Tools and parts
Just found this tidbit about ECE planes (April 2018). No mention of $USD to buy it or their other planes.

Re: ECE or Ecemmerich Planes Tools and parts
Jeff - Thanks for the article.
Check some of them out at Highland woodworker in Atlanta, search under ECE or check the hand plane lineup.
There are a few others in the US that as carry them as well.
I'll post more when I get a price list from Mr Warren.
They are pricey but perform beautifully smooth. Wood on Wood.Last edited by peteb301; 04-16-2018 at 08:10 PM.
