    First Turning Project

I've been carrying around the pieces for my wood lathe for the last 4 years but have never gotten it running due several out of state moves.

With my finally assembled lathe and some awesome tools from John at ncwoodturningtools.com, this handle for my rougher is the first thing off the machine:

Its made from a cherry tree limb and finished with BLO and beeswax.

If you are considering carbide tools, John's are awesome and very reasonably priced!
There's never enough time to do it right, but there's always enough time to do it over.

    Re: First Turning Project

A piece of wood 1 1/2" square x 12"-16" will make a great size for turning the handle for John's carbide lathe tools. Any good solid wood will work; I prefer cherry or ash for handles. So buying your turning tools from John, www.ncwoodturningtools.com, will give you top quality carbide turning tools for a very low price. John's is a local small business that very generously supports NCWW. Look him up, and give his tools try; you'll not be sorry!

Experience is a hard teacher; she gives the test first, and the lesson later.
