    Busy little bee

    Good morning folks!

The past two weeks have been pretty hectic. Texas for ten days, appointments in Charlotte, both wife and baby under the weather. But, I've been able to get a lot done in the shop. Workbench finished, bench stool made, table saw stand done, and a few other shop quality of life upgrades.

I have actually moved on to making STUFF! Currently have a cutting board and a mallet in glue up, and made a few handles for my Marikina carving knives.

I guess the purpose of the post is to help encourage anyone that feels like life has been too hectic for any shop time to just get out and do it. Even if it's twenty minutes here ando there, it's amazing how much you can get done.

    Pictures!

Get out there and make STUFF!
I don't know about you guys, but for me it's all about that feeling of, "Wow, I made that."

Looking forward to pictures of that mallet when it's complete Johnathan.

It should be finished his evening, along with the cutting board. Will post pictures in this thread tonight.

I have the lights all wired and the new sub panel in, still have to run the wire for the outlets and the main feed before I get some insulation and walls done but things are moving along pretty well, thanks for asking!

    Re: Busy little bee

Here we go. White oak and purple heart for the mallet. Walnut for the handle. To be honest, this was my very first time ever playing with hardwoods. I used all the board typeso I had. Since this mallet is for me, I wasn't too worried about color matching. I know it isn't the prettiest, but it is solid. I did screw up the angle of one of the inner pieces and it has a very tiny bit of wiggle side to side. You have to put it in the vise to feel it. Also, there was glue residue still left in a couple of places that I didn't see until I applied finish. Quite annoying. I'm learning. Still much better than my first mallet from a month ago.

Here's the pictures, and one of my first mallet.

Lol... I have before and after photos of most everything that has been done so far but I haven't really thought much about sharing them. Your mallet is very pretty and best of all YOU made it!
