That's a nice looking piece of granite from what little I can see so far. Can't wait to see the finished project.

Nice experiment for a "might turn this into a hall table" for who? Looks good so far.

I figure that you'll have it finished in a week!

Let's see that was posted at 2:03, it is 6:31, so the glue is dried and likely everything is assembled - guessing Fred is waiting for the finish to dry...

I was thinking he posted this at 2:03, so he probably didn't start until after lunch.

    Seriously Fred, looking good.
I'll gladly tell you how I do something. Just please don't confuse that with the right way to do it, and almost certainly not the only way.

naw. got started around 8. had to stop to change the blade on the bandsaw. killed the unisaw around 10 and had to wait for it to cool off and reset the motor. there's a lot of glue to dry so may be a week before I get back in the shop. work gets in the way ya know.... busy next 2 weekends with the grand daughter and I have another project that will take precedence so it may be a while. slowing down in my old age!

    Fred,

I think if you made videos for YouTube you wouldn't need to speed them up during the editing like so many do.

the granite has a recess in the bottom. I'll add some fillers to the frame and let the granite rest on top with the fillers keeping it from moving around. If I attach the granite with glue or whatever, the table will be too heavy IMHO. I may wish to move it at some point in time.

    Re: New project started

Whenever granite or Corian is used on our projects the installers just set it in silicone caulk. It can be cut easily if the top has to be removed.

On a recent project where I had to attach a granite top to a wooden base, I used a silicone adhesive. You can find it at the big box stores in the caulk/adhesives section. But I agree w/ Fred on a table that size. If you have to move it, keep it light. In my case all I had to do was get it to the shop door. My grandson-in-law and a couple of his buddies took it from there.

Oh you have to finish this, Fred. It looks really nice! What are you building with your grand daughter btw? If I may ask.
