    Re: Opinions on this saw?

How do we go from an over priced used Ryobi to a Powermatic cabinet saw?

Can't speak for the OP, but life lessons taught me not to settle. You have to start somewhere and learn from that. From there, make a goal and go for it!

Just wishing for the powermatic. I know it won't happen soon. Just trying to decide what to do in the meantime. I have "some" play money saved, but not enough for the powermatic (or similar) so now the decision is whether or not to deal with this crappy saw or get something to replace it while i save up enough to get a really good one....... baby steps or not walking at all kinda thing.

I have 2 table saws ... one similar to this one, and one I use for precision work; i.e. the 'good stuff'. I used the Ryo when I didn't have anything else, but once I got a good saw, I only use the now Ryo for framing, ripping or heavy duty stuff. It's just not precise enough to do quality work on really fine pieces.

Save your money and get a good saw ... one where you can use precision attachments, zero blade wobble, adjust angles precisely, et al.

    Re: Opinions on this saw?

I too have two saws. One of which is an old Delta hybrid that my Dad purchased when I was kid. I mainly use it for dado cutting. My primary saw is a Ridgid R4512. I bought it new some years ago for under $400. It now sells for a little over $500 at Home Depot. I like it enough that I would buy another one if I was in the market for another.

I wouldn't put the money in it to be honest. The price is high for what it is. You may be getting a big paperweight. I'd use the funds to put toward something of better quality. Keep your eyes open for a decent Delta or used Powermatic. JMHO
