Beautiful piece and great choice of wood! Love the grain in the wood and how it fits into the theme of the piece! Very nice job!

Pardon, while I get up off the floor. The intricate detail knocked my socks off.
The thing that holds up all my woodworking is simply getting started.

Always sand completely through all grits. Use a pencil to mark your piece before each grit so you know when you are done
    USE A TACK CLOTH
Use steel wool wool between coats of finish UNLESS using water based. Then use super fine finishing paper.
    USE A TACH CLOTH.

    that about covers it.

don't you have a problem using steel wool with all the "edges" in a scrolled pattern?

What do you (or Bill) mean by super fine finising paper?

    Re: Free Spirit

I was told by a finishing expert and consultant, to only use a tack cloth when using polyurethane, so I have followed his advise and use compressed air to remove dust particles, or a clean cloth. I often use shellac as a sealer followed by lacquer. Both are a little more forgiving than poly.

    Re: Free Spirit

Klingspor’s sells finishing pads. Different grits for different purposes. The white one is for finishing. I only worry about sanding the stuff I can reach. The blade leaves a near perfect finish because it is a quality new (for each project) blade. If someone wants to try to stick their finger where it didn’t belong to test this out, it wouldn’t end well.

It was either at the get-together at Mike D's or somewhere else I ran into Berta recently. She had the pattern with her but not the finished item at that time.
