    Source Needed For 5ft x 10ft; or 5ft x 12ft Oversiz Plywood

I am in Lenoir, NC and, of course, there are no sources here. Ideally, I'd like AC Sanded, but will be covering with laminate, so not critical. I know that Particle board is available in over size sheets, but moisture will be present . . .

I've searched 'the net' and found suppliers in the Midwest, Canada, Baltimore, etc. but need two sheets max (one if I can get a five by twelve foot sheet - not a pallet load!

    Thanks for your attention.

Wurth Wood Group in Charlotte may have something in the sizes you're looking for. You can give them a call at 704-394-9479. Good luck.

I'm curious. Why do you need oversize plywood instead of the standard 4' x 8'? Maybe piece together 4 x 8 to make it work?

Maybe piece together 4 x 8 to make it work?

    Thanks for the source.

I appreciate the piece it together suggestion and planned on doing just that - on the first layer. I was, however, hoping I could get both my countertops out of a single sheet of 5 x 12 (each has a ninety degree turn on the short (<60") leg) to get both tops covered by a single sheet of goods to provide the best surface for adhering the laminate. When I finally got the cabinets installed, the ten foot looked a bit shy of the mark because the base corner cabinets sport a diagonal front which increases their effective depth in excess of the 'standard' 24" and I need to sharpen my pencil since I cannot find anything in twelve foot lengths.

Having had Post Formed Countertops that succumbed to moisture flaking and swelling, I'd hoped to build something out of plywood that would last more than the five years experienced with the top in the home I last purchased. Replacing a countertop too often involves the 're-do' of the entire kitchen and I don't think I'll have it in me to do this (for you) again (dear).

Any good approaches to 'seamlessly' joining sheets of plywood?

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Re: Source Needed For 5ft x 10ft; or 5ft x 12ft Oversiz Plywood

A good friend of mine has a custom countertop fabrication shop up in New York where I used to live. I had helped him make a few as well as my own for my last house. The proper material to use is 3/4 "particle board. The main reason is its nearly dead flat and extremely smooth when you buy it. As for joining it, you simply glue a backer strip at the joints, about 4 " wide and he would fill in any voids with bondo and sand it smooth prior to laminating it. He would also add a similar backer strip around the perimeter edges and anywhere it was to contact the cabinet tops. I just recently made a couple here for a friend and they turned out great this way.
