    Makita 9.6v stick batteries

Anyone have any luck with aftermarket batteries to replace the 9.6v Makita NiCD stick batteries? I have perfectly good tools I hate to have to replace. Seems like I cannot find batteries anywhere except on Amazon anymore.

Also, you can get your batteries rebuilt with new cells in them.

    Ace Hardware has OEM Makita...http://www.acehardware.com/product/i...yABEgLFI_D_BwE

So does Amazon. I have personally had lots of luck with aftermarket batteries. There are nice inexpensive options like these with 84 positive reviews....https://www.amazon.com/Odec-Makita-9...ta+battery+9.6

The 9.6v OEM batteries were known to be high quality batteries. My brother worked as a manufacturer's rep for them a few years ago (while I worked at Hilti). I would probably buy the low priced aftermarket ones though and save the money. If your original batteries lasted this long though it might be worth it to you to have OEM.

    Hope this helps.

This was my second set of OEM Batteries. They seem to last about 5 years before they just will not take a charge anymore.

I still use my 9.6 tools. I too would opt to the generic batteries. One trick I do is about every 3rd use completely drain battery before charging. If you can find the old Makita trickle charger they work great for resetting the battery memory. My two batteries have lasted 8 years so far. Those old Makita cordless are great tools.
