Re: Anyone familiar with a "Bucyrus" wood lathe

I guess most people wouldn't want my lathe but it fits me perfectly.

Re: Anyone familiar with a "Bucyrus" wood lathe

Well, sure wasn't expecting this much response!!! Am very thankful for everyone's opinion/advice though. I now have to weigh my choices and make a decision.

I do have a machine shop on my property. My son in law and his brother can make anything I need for the lathe.

I have a few machines that are 3ph on VFDs and also have extra 3ph motors. Son in law offered to make me a rotary ph converter if needed so one more shouldn't be an issue.

I'm usually drawn to old machines and especially ones that are not the norm. Yes they do bring challenges and at times can be frustrating.

The lathe has risers and a couple of face plates that come with it. I believe I can make a banjo or anything else I need.

So now it's time to sleep on it and make a decision. Never know... may need to turn a telephone pole

A machine shop at your disposal changes things If you get the lathe, be sure to share photos of the restoration!

There may be some info on the OWWM site, since this is dedicated to old machinery. Beefy looking machine.
