    NC transplant and new woodworker

Afternoon y'all. I'm Jason but friends and family call me by my nickname Boomer. My family just moved to Huntersville about 3 weeks ago from south of Boston. My wife got a job at Belks corporate office in Charlotte. I have been interested in woodworking ever since I was little. Building forts and just little step stools and things. Recently I've been getting a lot more interested and trying to better my skills. Nothing fancy yet. My latest builds were a couple of book cases, a simple bench, and some christmas crafts for my wifes family. All out of pine found at lowes.

Welcome aboard, Boomer. You have come to the right web site. I am only about 6 miles from you; I live in the Derita area of North Charlotte.
I like making things. I have a wood shop at home. I am a terrible carpenter but I love doing it. Raymond - Charlotte, NC

Welcome to the site, Boomer. Glad you found us.
I'll gladly tell you how I do something. Just please don't confuse that with the right way to do it, and almost certainly not the only way.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I was curious if any of you have ordered wood from Woodworkers Source and how was the shipping? Thanks.

Re: NC transplant and new woodworker

Thank you. I am loving NC so far. We've been here for about 3 weeks now. I look forward to learning a ton from all y'all. I have to consider myself a beginner and haven't any detailed stuff yet. Todays project is assembling my new Delta table saw I just got a couple days ago with a 10% coupon from the post office's mail forwarding packet. Before we moved I found an old Rockwell/Delta band saw at the local scrap yard. I bought it for $30 and it works fine, just gotta get a new blade for it.
