Re: Help needed getting on roof in Cary

No roof repair needed - the satellite stays - just the transponder at the end of the boom has to be returned. Also the house will likely not be sold, just the land. House will probably be bulldozed by the next owner to make way for what Cary calls high-density development.

Thanks Mike - one of the problems is the ladder was buried in weeds - had to cut down some trees growing through it to get it out. The rope was useless to raise and lower it. Guess I need to take better care of equipment even if I'm not using it currently.

Such a shame but yes, likely to be bulldozed, especially if your neighbors band together and sell as a group. I'd love to afford to buy it and not bull doze the house.

I never used a rope to raise a ladder. Pull it out on the ground then stand it up like I said. Same putting it away. Walk it down, rungs in hand, one after the other then push it together on the ground. Sliding the ladder up and down on a sign or on a building facade will get you in big trouble in the sign business, especially where there is a lot of glass. I saw a guy put a ladder through a storefront one time, not a pretty thing...

Pull it out to full length, lock the catches, brace the feet against a wall, start at the top end and walk it up, when it is standing straight up you can grab a low rung (waist high) and a higher rung (head high), lift and carry it anywhere.

Wish I had seen this sooner, we could have stopped on the way to the picnic and took care of this in 15 minutes.
Mike, you have the same problem I have. The older I get, the better I USED TO BE!

Bring a 40 foot ladder to the picnic and I'll show you how to raise it and carry it. I don't have to embellish what I did in the past and I can still do most of it, maybe not as fast as I used to.
