    Re: Spring Picnic May 20

I'm confused. The pin on the map is not where the Seaforth Shelter is located.

As usual, I'll bring iced tea (5 gal sweet and five gal of unsweet) plus a chest FULL of ice as I have access to an icemaker. That way no one else has to buy ice. Probably make either or both banana pudding and deviled eggs, along with either a cake or pie. For you out of towners, don't let the inability to bring food stop you. We ALWAYS have FOOD LEFT OVER!

You are indeed correct Rich. The pin on the map is the headquarters of the Jordan Lake Park Authority and the only address we can find to feed into Google Maps. The Seaforth shelter is on the peninsula sort of in the middle of Jordon Lake. If you come from the west or east you will cross half of the lake before you get to the turnoff for Seaforth to the South. It is very well marked on Highway 64 where to turn. Use the address given in your GPS to get you in the vicinity and then follow the signs to Seaforth.

Here's the park map with the Seaforth area on the peninsula that Ken notes.

    Re: Spring Picnic May 20

I didn't realise the picnic was at Jordan Lake - for some reason I thought it was way West, around Charlotte.

We spent the day at Seaforth today, what a lovely area and it's about 15 minutes away from our new house down in Apex.

So, Brogan, you have no excuse for not being there!

We may be able to make it.

I know it's on 20 May but what time? (It doesn't say in the first post).

Oh and if we are able to make it, we'll try and rustle up some kısır as a contribution.

    Re: Spring Picnic May 20

Yes as Berta mentions we usually get going around 10AM, lunch will be at noon-ish and we'll then hold a very short business meeting (a requirement of our bylaws) and then hold the raffle and door prize drawings. You do not have to be present to win the raffle, but you do have to be present for the door prizes.

Everyone present will receive a door prize ticket including children regardless of age. So bring the family to increase your chances of winning a door prize. No dogs please, they are not allowed in the shelters. Thanks.

If you want to help set up - there is a lot to do in preparation - come early around 9AM and we'll find something for you to do. Like move tables around, put disposable table cloths on the tables, tape them down if its windy, etc.

There will be a swap table, a give-away table and a for sale table set up so bring things you don't need and want to share or sell. A lot of the raffle prizes will be on display so you'll be able to touch and feel them prior to winning them. The Hammer won't be there as we don't really want to move 500+ pounds of equipment to and from the picnic. That will have to be picked up by the winner in Chapel Hill. We'll try to have a picture of it there though.

I imagine that anyone from around Murphy, NC (~2hrs drive west of Asheville) laughs when they read this but they will give you a pass since you're not a native

The lovely and talented Mary Ann and I plan to attend. Plan to bring a Chinese Coleslaw, something sweet and a few tools to sell and give away.

We're definitely attending now - we being me, my better half, and our 6 year old daughter.

We'll bring something food related to contribute and look forward to meeting everyone.
