Yates American B244 wood planer
- 24” width x 8” thickness capacity
- 7.5hp 220v 3ph - can run off VFD. Currently run of RPC.
- 4-knife cutterhead
-Sectional infeed roller and chip breakers
- Variable feed speed
- Bed is in excellent condition - still exhibiting manufacturers planing marks
- Powered bed rollers
- High quality heavy steel dust hood with air gate
- Three sets of knives - 2 sets brand new from American National knife (over $500 for two new sets). One set for hardwood, one for softwood.
Yates American was one of the best machinery manufacturers of the 20th century. This is a truly magnificent planer of excellent build quality. Virtually every part is cast iron or machined steel. This was supposed to be my forever planer, so I went through it and inspected all parts, cleaned and repainted.
It has a 30° cutterhead, which was spec’d from Yates American for softwoods. One set of knives is ground with a 10° back bevel for use on hardwoods, which is what I primarily use. Having the 30° head gives great versatility depending on the type of wood you are using.
Grease fittings on nearly every moving parts keeps everything well lubed and easily maintainable.
I am currently running this machine off of a rotary phase converter but it could also be run off of a VFD.
My only reason for selling is I have three planers in a two car garage and no room.
Asking $3500 or best offer. Located in Apex, NC.
