I wanted to post this so everyone can look it over. Right now it's just NC only, but as we go we can maybe add others, as well as ones that are mainly online retailers.

Please let me know of glaring errors, ommisions or changes needed...

If I remember correctly from an earlier post, they only moved a few hundred yards to a building closer to route 61 (the main street in Gibsonville that Bethel St. is off of). Somebody jump in here if I'm wrong...

Catawba Hardwoods has a Hickory location too. It is on 321N just north of the lake. :)

John

Do you know the full address? Also, I can't find a website for them if anyone knows if they have one or not.

As of two weeks ago, they had not yet moved. They said that they hoped to move in december sometime. When they do move, you go up one more block before turning right.

WE are almost ready to see customers at our new warehouse/store. Here is the information, but until I post an official notice that we are open, please call first at 919-302-2182 if you want to come by.

WE are stocking both domestic and exotic hardwoods for woodturners mainly. If you are interested in the type of woods that we carry, you can take a look at our sales on eBay, under the User ID of 'ncwood'.

Thanks,

Gary Davis

HI David,

Actually we do have very large pieces of some exotics. Lots of them come to us as huge planks, some times 4-6" thick, 14-16" wide and 10-12' long.

Since we mill our own domestics, we can cut them to about any size that you are looking for.

Thanks,

Gary

Great list, Jonz. However, I have not been able to get to Gennett Lumber website as listed (other info is correct). I tried a Google search and they show same website address, but it doesn't link up either -- we'll try again or call them to see if they've gone inactive or changed the web address.

Was really sorry to see that HH & NK Hardwoods in Kings Mtn had closed :crybaby2: -- they had a great selection, especially for turners -- I wonder what caused them to close their doors and where all their product and equipment went...

They closed for personal reasons. They sold down their stockas much as possible and had an auction to get rid of the rest.

I will be opening a storefront off of timber road adjacent to our family farm and mill this spring. I generally carry only native nc species in lumber and turning blocks. My specialty is thick material and slabs including walnut, cherry, oak, hackberry, poplar, pine etc etc. Stcok is constantly being sold and changes so its best to IM me or email for availability. Here is an example of the slabs and types of blocks I get.

I recently posted information in the "where to buy/sell lumber" for the NHLA web site. They too have a page of sources for lumber. It is not all inclusive but there may be some there we do not have listed here. You can also educate youurself a little bit on grades, etc.

Jerry, when Jonz put the list of wood suppliers together for us he tried to keep the list regionally oriented toward NC so folks here have a reasonable shot at personally visiting one of the locations to purchase wood locally. If there are any NC wood suppliers on the NHLA site that are not included then we may want to get them added to our list. Thanks for posting those links earlier, there is a bunch of informative reading there.
