Looks like Lyptus to me. If it has a light pink color, I would think lyptus would be the likely species. It's a cultivated, grove raised species of eucalyptus.
The Hardwood Store used to sell it but it's not listed on their website anymore. It's a good candidate whose properties are pretty close to what the OP has described. Take a look...
I agree with the above commenters that it looks like a eucalypt to me, having worked with a lot of E. grandis during my time in the Peace Corps in Cameroon. The interlocked grain is a very common feature in eucalypts, and the color is right.
It looks like either lyptus or quaruba to me. I bought a pallet of quaruba when I was just learning because it was 50 cents a foot and I could afford to make mistakes. Pinkest wood I've ever seen.
