What kind of wood is this!

Can any one id this wood It came with a large lot of stuff I recently bought. I was just curious as to what it may be.

Looks like black walnut heartwood with lots of sapwood but it looks kind of finished planed. Where's you get it?

I'm w/ Jeff. Walnut heart wood w/ a lot of sap wood. Beautiful piece.

It’s not walnut its really dense and heavy! The end grain is different too. I tried to upload another picture but couldn’t. I bought a lot of tools from a guy and it came with a bunch of wood too.

Thank you I believe that is it. After looking it up some of the images on google have the kind of purple hue it has and the way it is described sounds like it. Thank you!

Yea I seen that when I looked it up. I’m not sure what I’ll use it for yet. It also said it can be troublesome to glue. May do some cutting boards.

Try Gorilla glue (or any poly glue) for that type of wood. It's faired well for me with wax impregnated maple which no other glue would work.
