Vise where I can see it

As an interval between trying to get the Triumph running, I decided to solve a probblem of convinenece . Made a new saw vise that is high enough I can see what I am doing!

Has a spring to make it open easily for re-positioning. Took a bity of trial and error to get even pressure to both tips so no chatter from a file. I still need to weld some pope on the nut as a handle. Guess my antique iron vise will be for sale.

That looks great, I need to build two. I need a better one for my small fine tooth saws and a bigger/longer one for the rip and crosscut saws.

I thought about making it even longer for the panel saws, but did a middle ground. About 14 inches so don't have to reposition too many times. I have not made a relief for the back saw splines yet.

My benches are about 37 inches and the vise is another 12 up.
