jeff...

I've been doing some research on producing turning blanks and I think read enough information to be dangerous.

I do have a question though and would apprciate your help. I understand there are lathe and band saw limitations. But was wondering if you could help me understand what the most common blanks sizes are.

Thanks

jeff.., I don't think that there is a common size. Wood of all sizes and shapes can be turned on a lathe. I would guess that the most common size band saw has a 6" thickness max. and you would be safe with blanks up to 14" square, they can always be trimmed down. I think that your best bet is to cut up the blanks so that you have the nicest looking wood. And with stuff like that Am. Elm sell it by the pound...you'll retire early 8-O
