I saw a suggestion to use turbine oil in a Rag-in-a-Can type oil applicator for intermediate storage instead of 3-in-1 for metal tools, gauges, firearms. Claimed it was cheaper and non-staining. This one is a smaller version of Paul Sellers': http://www.homemadetools.net/forum/oil-applicator-71379

Has anyone ever used turbo oil for tool storage? Was it mostly petro based or synthetic (or does that matter?)? Does anyone have a half quart you would be willing to sell/swap for hardwood?

Find a source for "Zoom Spout Oil," or use air tool oil to fill sock. Neither will leave a residue. Most HVAC supply houses sell Zoom Spout Oil, in addition to many hardware stores.

In a '63 Valiant yes, but afraid it's a little too red for what I want now. Probably will try the air tool oil Bruce suggested if nobody has any of the turbine oil. I have part of a bottle.
