Trim suggestion for southern yellow pine bookcase

I plan to build two more and tie them together. Thinking cherry or walnut trim would look good with the pine. Thoughts please----Would that be in bad taste or ?

It is a matter of taste and what the other furniture in the room is (cherry, maple, oak, pine, painted).

Would you add like an 1-1/2” trim to the unit as it is seen in the picture? Or would it essentially look like the picture only with a different wood on its face?

Either way, I think the yellow pine by itself has a good look.

I agree. That's a nice looking book case you've done. Changing the color and grain pattern would be distracting in my opinion.

I'd stick with pine. Personal choice.
