May not be new but at least its a new style for me. I cut the upper blank length to (standard length + thickness of centerband + ¼"), used a tube that was standard length + thinkness of centerband. Drilled out the ¼" with a bit the same diameter as the 7mm bushings OD. Turned the lower blank BtoB so the ¼" hollow in the upper tube would overlap the lower tube. Material is cedar.

Super job. I really like the slimline kits, they are pretty versatile. I make all of my slimlines in this fashion. Except I use a long tube on the bottom.

Hey, that's really nice! I'd thought about turning center bands out of contrasting wood (haven't tried it yet), but extending the base is a great idea.

The cedar works really well here, too...it suggests pink ivory.

I made this one on Thursday. Friday evening a customer came by for a few gifts. First one she picked was this one. All total, she took five pens, one pen/pencil set and one keyring. :-D :-D :-D :-D A good evening.
