Top hat separator usage comment

Been running it for 2 years and so far have not had an issue with the can sucking in. Would like to upgrade the filter as some point but have to wrap my head around the design first since all I have off the original HF dust collector is the motor and not the collector

I have the bare bones of a grizzley minus the motor in the for sale section if you're interested.

Tinkered with my top hat separator drop slot today. I tried a ramp at the trailing end of the drop slot and picked up this pile of hand-plane shavings.

This amount of shavings got caught.

The trailing end of my drop slot is under the inlet housing and now I wish I had spent the $ for polycarbonate on the side so that I could watch the flow in that area. Anyway, this is some progress. Ain’t done tinkering. BTW, I tried both an up-ramp and down-ramp with basically the same result.
