I had a piece of teflon sheet left over frrom another project. It has adhesive on one side, and I ordered the sheets from McMasterCarr.

I use a Veritas marking and mortise gauge, but I always have issues with the brass "sticking" (not sliding smoothly) on the wood. It is probably my poor technique, but I stuck some of the teflon to the contact portion of the marking gauges, and it slides slick as butter now.

Great idea! I have to keep my wooden ones well waxed for that reason, but my new 'wheel' (metal) slides like your Teflon gauge.

George cool concept. You should write that up and submit it to one of the WW magazines. Who knows it might get you a $100.00 or more.
