Table leg tapers.

When making tapered table legs, 2 sided, which of the faces do you taper? I have always done the front face and the inside face of the leg. Recently, someone told me I was all wrong. Which faces do you all do> Thanx.

If you mean Shaker style legs, the straight sides always face out. The tapers are always on the insides

The outside should be straight, so the two inside faces taper.

What they said. But in a few cases it might be three faces, too.

Years back I studied on this question. Answer: whatever you think looks best on the piece of furniture you're building. If I'm not doing a reproduction for someone, I'll taper all four.
