I have just been comissioned to build a custom bookcase for my church. It is to be 6' high and around 14' long. I'm thinking thats a lot of sand with a brush or wiping on. HVLP systems are expensive for just one project (I know, I can use it over, but I've never needed one for my small projects before). I found this sprayer and wondered if anyone has ever used this with stain?

I keep remembering trying to use a Wagoner sprayer years ago and what a pain it was. What's your opinion?

Charles, you might want to look into an HVLP conversion spray gun. Grizzly sells one for around 60 bucks as I recall, and you would use it with an air compressor (albeit you'll need a good volume of air to back it up).

You can use the same gun to spray your normal finishes (lacquer, poly, etc).

Hey Scott, thanks for the tip. I have an air compressor, but I don't think it has enough sustained volume for what I need.
