Shipping Costs Deal

A while back, a member told me he used some thing/service/application to get reduced shipping rates of some sort or another.

In one ear . . .

Now, a relative 'up North' sent her annual box of home made cookies. Doubt it was a pound (but it said 1lb 9.40 Oz on the label, so shame on me). The cardboard box was about 4 x 5 x 7" and the U.S. Postage Paid; USPS Ground Advtg from 98053 (the Drone State - NJ) to Lenoir 28645 was a whopping eleven dollars and twenty cents.

Now I got a larger, heavier package from Maine earlier in the week from an ebay shipper and the charge was nine twenty as I recall.

When we called to sing "It's beginning to taste a lot like Christmas . . . " I told her I'd ask about the shipping deal I'd heard about on this site and see if I could track it down for her (we are not the only beneficiary on her Cookie List).

So, if you have any idea of what I'm talking about or and idea of who might have told me about it (last year?), please let me know or let him know I'm looking.

Thank you,

+1 for Pirate Ship. My wife uses it and it's usually significantly cheaper than going straight to UPS.

Thanks for the info.

I wish they had chosen another name. I've got my doubts about how the message "Auntie Mae, I found the discount cookie mailing information. Just sign up with Pirate Ship!" will go over at the retirement home.

I'll send it, we'll see.

Thanks again.

PS: I use PayPal for 'online transactions.' Is there an up charge for using PayPal? - as opposed to giving them your bank information (Pay by Bank — free & instant)? I opened up an account thinking to send her package back to her using Pirate Ship as a trail/Test run (looks like 34.2% savings if there is no up charge for using PayPay or a credit card.

Thank you Rick

I am going to send her box back via Pirate Ship along with some home store cookies (Oreo's) and details on the service based upon the size and weight of her box, Pirate Ship wanted $7.56 (She had paid $11.20 to send it to us). Hope the nom de plume doesn't scare her off :D
