An old used furnace fan that was changed out for a new unit is what’s in there.
Add some salvaged plywood from shipping containers at work. New filters..
Viola ! Sanding station.

I didn’t have it there originally or even build it for under the extension table. Some how I got lucky it fit perfectly when I rearrange.

Looks very nice. I've thought about doing the same at times. Where is the air intake? Hard to see from photos. Is there a gap on the edges/ends of the table?

when it's running the lid is lifted while sanding and if I need to , I put a small piece of plywood so small parts don't drop thru.
When enough dust slows the airflow going down, I pull the pre filters ( blue ones ) and bang them out in the garden.

Joe, you could get a piece of hardware cloth to keep small pieces from falling through. It has 1/2" squares so that should keep things in place.

Would it have worked if you drilled a number of 1/2" or 3/4" holes in the top, then placed a router mat over the top and then sanded your stock? The router mat I'm referring to is the perforated rubber like material that is lain on a flat surface, and keeps the stock in place while sanding or routing without any clamps. Anyhow, I really like your sanding station! A great idea that inspires me to do somewhat the same thing in my shop. Thanks for the great idea Joe!:p

Thank you for sharing your great shop addition Joe, the old gray matter is really churning now, as I've been intending to make an auxiliary table for my TS. You've given me some very good ideas to get me going!:p

Don’t forget to add a storage drawer .

This was an after thought as I was cleaning up and kept tripping over an old drawer I had built last year that was laying around.
I do need to make a larger drawer front to complete .
