Since I moved to Hawaii, I have found a few locals that do wood work. They stated they will take Monkey Pod Wood (roughly the hardness between Cherry and Walnut) and soak in seawater to increase it strength.
I could find nothing to support this claim. I know you can cure wood with salt. But, this is something the locals stated will improve the hardness of the wood.
Anyone have anything that you have ever run accross that supports this ? or....... it is just local tradition with local lore to it ...........
