Hi Everyone, I was asked to make a rocking horse for a ladies grandchild. I have never had the need for any plans for one of these so that is a pattern that I do not have. Does anyone have a set of plans that they have made that you may be will to share or do you know who sells the best plans for this project. BTW this will be one that the kids ride on. Thanks Bunches in advance. Steve

I just made one of these for my Granddaughter. (she's just turned one). It's not quite as elegant as the one previously posted but was relatively easy to make. The plan was free.

I have some pictures if I can figure out how to post one. I made templates out of hardboard for a pattern tracing router bit should I decide to ever make another.

Here is a link to a picture: (hope it works)

Thanks Lee, It could always be fancied up if needed. I am getting some ideas on plans but have no idea what to charge for one as I have not built one yet. Any ideas on pricing? Steve

Over the past year I've built 5 horses from the plans available at http://familytraditionwwp.com/ (you can buy them at Woodcraft). It's a fairly simple project, but involves a lot of sanding!

This is the guy who wrote the plans:
Buck Coleman

As for selling price ... I had the same question. I asked Buck and his respond was:

I use Red Oak and Black Walnut, and sell the rocking horses from $300.00 to $450.00, a lot of the time it depends on the person I’m selling it to, friend, family, or just joe somebody. Whatever you decide the price should be, friend and family just don’t want to pay the price,

Another rule of thumb is, your cost (wood, glue, biscuits, poly, etc) double it, then plus 40%. The 40% is the amount you can play with to make them think you are making them a deal.

Oh yeah, I'd let you borrow the plans but I tossed them out. However, they only cost about $15 and are worth having (they have full size patterns)

Thanks for the info. I should be able to show her some ideas and hoefully go from there. Thanks again to all. Steve
