Refrigerator temperature issue

I picked up a garage fridge for cheap this past weekend. It seems the temperature control is a little off, and I am wondering (hoping) if it is an easy fix. the contol goes from 0 (off) to 9 (coldest). Basically it seems that from 1 - 8.75, the temperature hovers from the low 40s to maybe just under 40. If you turn it all the way to 9, the temperature drops below 30. Any suggestions for fixing the temperature control?

Thanks, Greg

replaced a control on a wine fridge with no problem with the aid of You Tube. You might have to tip it over but otherwise should be easy. Check it out on YT first.

The temperature in the cooling (not freezer) should be between 33 - 36 degrees F. Freezer should be in the 0 , to -10 range. Sounds like the thermostat is history. To check fridge temp, put a glass of water in there, and 24 hours later check water temp. Best way to check freezer temp, is to put a box of ice cream in it, and 24 hours later check internal temp. You can find your needed thermostat on Ebay. Be sure and clean the coils located under, or on back of unit.
