I'm often asked how I come up with the designs for the puzzle boxes and cabinets that I make. I had decided long ago when I started woodworking to only follow the plans of others, but soon found that I wanted to make my own stuff. Figuring out the best methods for designing and building things I seemed to have found a system that works for me. My newest video shows the method that I use for all of my projects, most of which now revolve around making puzzle creations. The video shows images from plans and builds of previous puzzle boxes, some not seen before. It also shows a preview of my next project starting now.
In other news, I've started applying shellac to the Parthenon puzzle cabinet. I anticipate it to be done before the end of the month, fingers crossed. Then in October I'll be posting images of it and two videos (one on the solve overall and the other on the build). More news on the future of Richo Woodworking to follow later in October.
