Pine tar finish

A fellow member posted a thread about using a pine tar finish for outdoor wood. An interesting idea.

Pine tar from Finland ( https://www.auson.se/sites/default/files/products/imprex_eng_161107.pdf ). It's a viscous, dark colored oily liquid, not sticky.

A 1:1:1 mix with tung oil and turpentine applied to QSWO, wiped off after several hours, and a second coat was applied.

It may be durable and fine for barns and boats but I wouldn't use it for outdoor furniture. The treated surface is dry to the touch but kind of tacky like pine sap/tar.
