Will be making some outdoor benches etc.. Lots of finishes out there, but all require yearly maintenance.
Will be used down on the coast in Shallotte, nc.. Intercoastal waterway with hot summers + mucho humidity along with cold damp winters. Wood will be cypress or cedar.
50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil & pine tar (light color).
Anyone use this, looking for low maintenance

Has been used on sailing ships for a long time. Do not want any maintenance. Wanted some type of finish.

Yep, sailing ships and lots of other outdoor wood things. No doubt it's a good preservative but your furniture benches, etc may be a bit black colored. There are some examples of pine tar/BLO being used on outdoor tool wood handles.

Wood will be cypress or cedar.
Neither wood species needs a finish and the best low maintenance outdoor wood finish is no finish!
