Today, at long last, we actually launched the canoe. About 12 of our friends (including two fellow woodworkers Phil S and Charlie) were in attendance and served as witnesses and potential lifeguards. Phil was the official photographer, consequently I have pictures to share. In one of the pictures, taken by another friend, you will see Phil actually in the water, getting an up-close perspective. All-in-all, a very good day.

Donn that is awesome. I'm glad she floated and looked that good too.
I'm not much of a boater, just enough to know that boats are referred to in the feminine (pronouns etc.) .... but my first thought in reading Graywolf's comment was that the 'she' being referred to was a person (who floated and looked good!).
Only after a few seconds did I realize that he (likely) he meant the canoe - which was of course the subject of the post!

Well, I'm certainly glad you finally got it. I've been told I'm a little slow sometimes as well.:D

Donn - I know nothing about building canoes and even less about familial relationships... but I do have an appreciation for working with wood. I have been reading this book and thought you just might find it as interesting as I have. Google the title, read some reviews, and then decide for yourself. And visit the author's website... p.s. the canoe is beautiful... don't forget your epirb.
