If you're a fan of Paul Sellers, you may have seen him use the Stanley 0-10-958 knife to mark for dovetails. The knife is not available in the US, but if you're interested, there is a UK seller selling through Amazon.

Here's the article: The Stanley knife I use

Here's the listing on Amazon: $12.81 with free shipping from the UK

I just got mine. It's intriguing to note that Paul sharpens his razor blades on a daily basis.

Let us know how you like it!

I use this marking knife -- the single-bevel is nice when marking against something, but the blade isn't long enough. It's fine when using a thin rule, but when using something else (like scribing along a workpiece), the handle gets in the way so you can't have the blade flat against the surface. I'd prefer something folding as well, so it could be handy in my pocket.

When I'm at them, Garage Sales that is, I keep my eyes open for some decent paring knives that have good steel. I reshape them and use those for marking knives. It's hard to beat a good $0.50 purchase!
