I don’t play guitar but I love making noisemakers. The process for building cigar box guitar (CBG) type instruments is well known and covered extensively on the web but achieving a highly playable instrument can take a little practice. This is my third and definitely best, stringed instrument. My daughter plays and she makes this thing sound fantastic. Notice the string configuration.

Ingredients:

  1. Bering cigar box
  2. Honduran mahogany neck
  3. Macassar Ebony fretboard
  4. American Holly heel
  5. Padauk bridge
  6. Bone apron & nut
  7. Fret wire and tuning heads from CB Gitty
  8. D’Addario dulcimer strings
  9. Sweat

I wasn't going to enter because so many other members build better instruments than I do - I am but a mere padawan learner. But what the heck... It's fun.

This is a carved top & back laminated semi hollow body neck through curly hard maple 4 string fretless stereo/mono electronic bass guitar.

Its strung with black polymer rotosound strings on a bone nut and full contact bridge. Her owner calls her SASSY because of her growly attitude.
