New Work Table

As mentioned before I bought a bunch of auctioned wood. So, much of it is non standard sizes.

I decided to make a work table for the garage/shop with some of the 2x3 pieces. Most of the wood is different species.

I settled on a 32 x 76 x 33-1/2 high table size, I glued in a pattern of (from outside to in) Oak, African Mahogany, Afromosia, Santos Mahogany, African Mahogany, Iroko, African Mahogany, Santos Mahogany, African Mahogany, Walnut .... the same on the other half. I would say the table weighs somewhere between 240-245 lbs

I still need to trim the the edges of the table, plug the bolt holes, set the drawers and set the vises ....... but it looked pretty interesting so I thought I would share.

I oiled it with a mix of 7.5% bees wax- 7.5% carnuba wax - and 85% mineral oil mixed together. I heated the oil to 180 deg the melted in the the other waxes until they were blended evenly.

The oil/wax mix is a soft cream for hand application. Rubbed on , let sit for an hour then hand buffed off. It really made the wood come to life.

Made plenty of errors, but it still came out well enough. Pretty fun to build .........So, finally !!! I will have a work table ......
