Just a simple post to provide an update on planning for the forum’s presence at the AAW’s 33rd Annual International Woodturning Symposium held at the Raleigh Convention Center, July 11-14, 2019

From the AAW side: there will be exhibitions, auctions, and vendors including Klingspor. NCWW’s own Stuart Kent will be a featured exhibitor both in sessions and on the trade show floor.

From the NCWW side. A group led by Phil Soper has been working since January to make plans for an NCWW booth on the trade show floor, with the approval of the forum’s board. The purpose is to increase awareness of the forum within the turning community and increase NCWW forum’s membership.

Some of the highlights of the planning group’s work include updating the trailer with new equipment and updating safety equipment (lathe shields, face shields, etc.). Phil is leading the charge on lining up greeters and demonstrators. A novel turned ‘trinket’ has been designed as a ‘favor’ for visitors to the booth. We’re also developing a one-page handout for visitors.

And, very importantly, the booth is being sponsored by Klingspor. Thank you Coleman!

The trade floor is free and open to the public. We’ll be located across from the Kilngspor booth. Look across the aisle for Charlie’s stuff. Note that session attendance requires registration fees by paid.

There is still work for the planning group to do. And for the forum members, make plans to attend, to learn and to buy…from the forum’s number one fan, Klingspor.

More to come at the symposium.

Thanks to Neal Bowman, Rich Cox, Stuart Kent, Michael Matthews, John Ronshagen, Phil Soper, Charlie Stickney and the BoD for their work on getting this in place.
