This is the steady I made when I got the lathe, just getting around to taking a picture.
I made it big enough to take large turnings, it will handle 19 1/2" easy.
And no I am not using it on that little turning, just put there for the picture, but I have used it a couple of times.

Yes they are, but not very good ones they have some soft spots in them, I need to find some better ones
