So I'm the proud owner of a Bernhard brand, model A, serial #0001 Unisaw mobile base.
I made the drive up to Bernhard's very impressive shop and house on Sunday and he was kind enough to cut the miters on his horizontal band saw and weld up the corners for me!
This week I've been able to grind the welds smooth, clean the surface rust off of the surface, prime, paint and attach the casters.
Dimensions as follows:
4"x4"x3/8" steel angle
overall 72"x28"
4", 2 way locking swivel casters
about 160#

Thanks again to Bernhard for the use of the facilities and the metalworking expertise!

Great job, Chris. Kudos to Berrnhard for the ironwork and to you for the completion. :eusa_clap

It looks great and should last a life time or 3 (it's well built)! :)

I didn't build it, just cut and bubble welded. The building part was all Chris.

PS I think the base not only can support the saw, but also the remainder of the shop...with capacity to spare.

I don't know...the casters are only rated at 350# each.

The amazing part is the price. I scrounged the steel from a construction site (legally) and saved the casters from being thrown out at work. I had the paint and primer left over from another project. Other than the gas to Bernhard's and owing him a few cold frosty pints, I have a total of $3.04 in bolts invested.
