Folks,

Went to the HD in Durham (Moriah Road) yesterday to get a replacement DeWalt 14.4V battery. Well the price was $80. BUT right next to it there was a 14.4V DeWalt impact Driver on sale: reg $239 marked down to $129. So I couldn't resist. Since the impact driver included two new batteries anyway. There was one more impact driver left.

Nice score. Guess your timing is perfect. But, as to your statement " ...and the tool budget is now officially exhausted"... do you really think we believe that? Where else have we heard the protest ' I'm not gonna buy any more tools...' ?

That's so true. And there is always the "deficit finance" option. The government does pretty good with it, may be I should try it?!

Just came back from looking at a 20"Oliver planer (50-60's model) that was advertised on craiglist. Asking price is $1,300. Planer has been sitting OUTSIDE, apparently came out of a high school. Chain drive and sprocket was covered in rust, but cutter head and table moved freely, not sure if the motor is any good (3-phase). Imho, it would need a complete rebuilt. Any opions on how much it is worth?

My brother walked into HD last week and bought 3 of those impact drivers for $107.00 each. I bought one of them from him. Like you said, cheaper then buying the new batteries them selves. Good going. If you have not used a impact driver yet, they are the greatest tool since sliced bread!!!!!

Good haul on both the impact driver and the hand planer!

I never seem to have such good timing. I usually buy high and sell low!!
