I realize this may seem out of place as there probably aren’t too many timber framers in this group, but you never know.
I’m listing this Makita KP312 for sale as I just don’t use it enough these days to justify keeping it around. In a previous life I worked as a professional timber frame carpenter, but am basically doing smaller scale woodwork and furniture these days, which suits me better.
This handheld planer has a cutting width of 12 1/4”, is heavy and very stable and reliable. Made for planing timbers, it could also be used for rough planing/flattening wide wide slabs similar to how you’d use a hand plane and winding sticks to flatten boards. For timber work, this tool can be indispensable and can cut out a ton of time that would otherwise be spent sanding timbers
Used, but good operating condition. Knives are 2 sided and sharp. Comes with an extra new set of knives (also 2 sided) and I will order and include a new, backup drive belt. The one on there is used and shows some wear, but still has some life left in it.
I’m located in the Boone area. This tool is heavy (45 lbs or so) and would be expensive to package and ship.
$1200.
