Making a Traditional Molding Plane
August 18 and 19, 9am to 5 pm each day
Cost: $160
This is a two day workshop on making a simple ogee molding plane using both contemporary and traditional woodworking techniques. On the first day we will cover molding plane anatomy and tools and jigs to layout and shape molding planes. Planes will be shaped using a combination of scratchstock and other planes as well as hand brace, chisels and floats. On the second day We will shape and temper blades for the plane, fit the blades to the plane and we will learn something about the technique of cutting moldings and decorative edging with a plane.
