:swoon:We have a house that needs to be demolished. We can not afford to do it. We were wondering if anyone would be willing to demolish the house for the lumber and bricks and copper wiring and it also has large members of oak. Is there anyone out there that would want this? It does have a lot of valuable and rare heart pine.

Does anyone know what we can do?

At least in Greensboro and the Piedmont Triad, for older houses you can get a tax write-off by donating the material to Architectural Salvage of Greensboro

http://www.blandwood.org/archsalvage.html

where the volunteers will come and remove/salvage old lumber/fixtures/architectural elements, sell them (cheap) and put the funds into local historic preservation.

If you look around the website (or call them) or google there may be similar local groups - just don't post your address (sometimes empty houses get looted of such goodies ahead of ASG)

Hope that helps
