I needed a piece of 8/4 walnut today for some cutting boards. I didn't want to make the long drive to Wall's for one piece of walnut. I went to Klingspore's and they didn't have any 8/4 walnut. I did pick up some sandpaper I needed. I drive down highway 67 every day. I remembered seeing a sign in someone's yard advertising lumber for sale. I drove out there and I was able to get a really nice piece of 8/4 walnut for $1.50 / board foot. He is a really nice gentleman. I just milled the lumber and it is check free so far. He had a nice stack of lumber and he had several logs ready to saw. I was in a hurry and I didn't get to talk with him too much. I told him about NCWoodworker and I hope he will find us.
